Gardening icon Monty Don returns to Northern Ireland’s premier gardening event, Allianz Garden Show Ireland, on Saturday 7th May to give his expert opinion on all things gardening to the crowds gathered at the stunning Antrim Castle Gardens.
The Sodshow Garden Podcast airs every Friday – live 3pm – and 4pm in iTunes and all good podcast stores.
The Show which will run for three days, Friday 6th to Sunday 8th, counts the return of the BBC Gardeners World presenter as its star attraction. Show Patron Monty Don returns to the Show for the third time and will be giving talks on his bestselling book Fork to Fork as well as sharing his wealth of knowledge during his walkabout of the Show.
Monty Don had this to say of his return,
There is no doubt that the Allianz Garden Show Ireland is one of the warmest, friendliest welcomes I get anywhere. What is great about it is it seems to be family orientated, you get young children, you get grandparents and you get a whole wide range of people and cross section of society sharing the event.
2016 promises to be the biggest Show yet and with a renewed focus on gardens there is so much more for people to see, with over 20 separate gardens to view there will be lots to inspire every level of gardener. There will be talks on how to grow your own vegetables and floral arrangements for your dinner table and plenty of opportunities to meet the expert exhibitors who are happy to answer any questions.
The Show will be celebrating the NI Year of Food & Drink 2016 in style with a Food NI Pavilion which will be filled to the brim with exceptional and unusual local producers creating tasty dishes for visitors to enjoy. As well as all the fabulous food available to purchase, throughout the weekend, local chef Paula McIntyre will be giving talks and will be joined by celebrity chef Maria Elia and author of the book “Smashing Plates”.
Aine Kearney, Director of Business Support and Events, Tourism Northern Ireland welcomed the improved content at the Show,
Tourism Northern Ireland is pleased to once again support the 2016 Allianz Garden Show Ireland. The event continues to attract great crowds to Antrim and I am delighted to see the Show mature as a family festival and we are thrilled that the Show has joined with us to promote Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and Drink showcasing the delicious offerings of the local area. On behalf of Tourism Northern Ireland I would like to wish visitors and participants an enjoyable Allianz Garden Show Ireland.
Sitting alongside the traditional array of plants, artisan food stalls, local craft and show gardens will be fun-filled activities appealing to all age groups with live music, a dedicated kids zone with kite making and the inaugural Punjana Tea Pavilion with tea dances. Also on offer will be flower arranging demonstrations, blacksmithing workshops and much more.
The 2016 Allianz Garden Show Ireland will run from 6th – 8th May at Antrim Castle Gardens and is open daily from 10am-6pm with parking in town centre car parks and at Junction One.
