Hi Peter,

GreenSax, the makers of 100% compostable bags have extended their product range to include GreenSax Minis, compostable multi-purpose bags which can be used for dog waste, nappies, compostable kitchen waste etc. Compostable bags naturally break down in the composting environment. Therefore the contained dog waste composts as does the compostable bag. Unlike biodegradable bags which do fully break down and leave shards of plastic. I have attached further information on GreenSax Minis below.

Kind regards,
VivaGreen.

“Green up the Clean Up” on dog fouling.
GreenSax, the makers of 100% compostable bags have extended their product range to include GreenSax Minis, compostable multi-purpose bags which can be used for dog waste, nappies, compostable kitchen waste etc.

Dog fouling is social menaces in every community and many county councils have introduced measures to deter people from not picking up after their dogs. Bernie Lillis from DCC launched an intensive campaign to highlight the issue of leaving dog waste around the streets, parks and beaches used by children and adults alike.

In the first quarter of this year 346 fines were imposed by DCC against dog owners and this figure is set to rise as the weather continues to improve. Bernie Lillis, DCC liaison Officer, commented that “Dog fouling is a huge irritant and we are determined to highlight the issues around it, not just from an aesthetic and environment viewpoint, but more importantly from a health perspective.

Initiatives like the GreenSax one, not alone help drive this message to the general consumer but to the next generation as well”.
GreenSax compostable bags are made from 100% natural materials so they break down completely and quickly in composting, helping return nutrients to the earth and support a new generation of growth. Unlike biodegradable bags, which do not fully break down and are not compostable, GreenSax return nutrients in the foodstuff and garden waste back to the earth within 2 to 4 weeks.

Available from Tescos, SuperValu, Dunnes and Spar along with a number of independent retailers, GreenSax bags come in a selection of sizes from the mini compostable and pedal bin (13L) to the outside brown wheelie bin (240L).

The RRP price is €1.95 for a roll of 20 bags.
