“Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé…..

We’re all part of Stephen’s army, we’re all off to Norwiccchhhhhhhh… ”

Ahem…

Folks,

As well as doing his exams, Stephen Walsh (a WIT BSc. Horticulture student in the Botanic Gardens) will be representing Ireland in the Grand Final of The Young Horticulturist of the year quiz this coming Saturday, May 10th at the John Innes Centre, Norwich. Yes, that’s the place where they make the fancy compost (and carry out garden-changing plant science research!).

I’m sure you’d all love a trip to lovely Norwich but as ever, I’ve not given you adequate notice but fear not! The Grand Final will be live-streamed at the following link:

http://gordonn.camstreams.com

The streaming should be live about 15 minutes before the competition starts at 11:00 am.

If you’d like to follow the highs and lows of the quiz on the wonderful platform which is Twitter, please follow (and of course participate) using the hashtag #YHoY. Don’t forget we have a Sod Show twitter account too and we’re friendly sorts -> @SodShow

You can test yourself, and compare your knowledge to the best young Horticulturist’s from Ireland and the UK. I have no doubt that we will all learn some novel snippets of information.

Below were the finalists of the Irish final of the Young Horticulturist of the Year Quiz which was held in the Botanic Gardens back in late March.

Stephen is the blondey lad holding the fork wearing the red T-shirt. He better makes sure he wears a green one on Saturday!
