Clare Garden Festival will be held again on the last Sunday in April – 27th April 2014. The popular annual event will in 2014 feature the slogan -My Beautiful & Edible Garden-. The festival provides a day out for all the family with great food and entertainment available and is a treat for all gardeners. Clare Garden Festival will be led by celebrity speakers from the gardening world bringing exciting talks for ornamental and vegetable gardeners and it will feature a vast Garden & Food Fair of over 60 quality stalls from all over Ireland. The venue Ennis showgrounds featuring a huge indoor arena as well as outdoor spaces and plenty of parking is conveniently located just off the M18 and in walking distance of the county town of Ennis. This year is the first time, we will be having Pop-Up Community Gardens.

Schedule of Talks:
4 Expert Speakers = 8 Garden Talks in Ornamental and Organic Gardening
From 12pm the talks’ series with expert gardeners joining the festival from Cork, Dublin and Clare will commence from the festival’s main stage located also in the indoors arena. Eight expert talks start on the hour and half hour for all types of gardeners from novices to experts both in ornamental and vegetable gardening. The talks will focus around the festival theme -My Beautiful & Edible Garden- especially chosen to combine the two sides of Gardening Ornamental and Organic Vegetable Gardening.
This year for the first time, there will also be an Ask the Expert session upstairs indoors at 1.30pm for any Ornamental Questions and at 3pm in the same location all around Organic Gardening. For background on our Expert Gardeners see www.claregardenfestival.com

Plant, Garden & Food Fair:
Now 70 exhibitors from all over Ireland
Upon entering the festival gates at Ennis showgrounds from 11am on Sunday, 27 th April, visitors will be greeted by over 70 exhibitors as part of the Great Garden & Food Fair featuring stalls from all over Ireland. The spectrum ranges from local nurseries like Caherhurley and Meelick Nursery, to Limerick plant sellers including Ahern Nursery and Just Roses, to Dublin-based Harrington Exotics, to local and national charities like Irish Seed Savers, CELT, GIY and Banner Beekeepers, to machinery and tunnels providers like Larkin Polytunnels… Some stalls will actively participate in the festival entertainment by offering short talks, demonstrations, childrens activities and advice in addition to their interesting and specialist wares.

Gardener’s Raffle in aid of Clare Crusaders:
Gardener’s Raffle in aid of Clare Crusaders: We are hugely delighted to have teamed up with Clare Crusaders for our Gardener’s Raffle
The first prize for the raffle will be a lawnmower model Weibang 6HP Celldrive kindly donated by U.S. Wholesale. Amongst the prizes in addition to large planters, dinner vouchers, veg baskets and more, will also be a great treat of a spa treatment at Doonbeg Lodge and tickets for the largest Irish Garden Festival ‘Bloom’ kindly donated by BordBia coming up in May.
Ann Norton, who heads up Clare Crusaders ‘Helping Children with Special Needs’ says: Clare Crusaders are delighted to be part of Clare Garden Festival. The festival promises to be an exciting family event offering much in the areas of entertainment and we hope to add to this with the raffle we are organising.
Ann continues: Gardening is a very healthy hobby for the body and mind which is even used in Occupational Therapy in some cases and we would indeed recommend it to anyone according to their own ability.
Our Raffle was launched at Dunnes stores last weekend and will be drawn at 4.30pm on Sunday!

Throughout the day the cheerful music of latin-irish band Los Paddys de las Pampas and Archery will be provided by the Archers of Ennis. For the youngest visitors, activities will include traditional crafts, facepainting, nature story telling, beekeeping and clay figure making.
This year for the first time the festival will host a Pop-Up Garden Community Challenge. Six gardens designed and created by Community and Horticultural Groups from all over Clare will be displayed on the day. The groups are competing for 3 cash prizes and the competition is supported by Clare County Council Environment Section as well as Fruithill Farm, Bantry, Co Cork. Each garden will be 3x4m and their theme is Protecting the Environment in my Garden. The gardens will be located at the festival grounds on a green area outside near the Artisan Food section.
Tickets to the festival will be available at the gate on Sunday, 27 th April. From 11-1pm, the Early Bird ticket price of 5 Euro per adult applies, after that adults pay 7 Euro. Families pay 5 Euro per parent all day, children under supervision of an adult go free and parking is free-of-charge.
Clare Garden Festival is run as a stand-alone event on the premises of and in partnership with Co Clare Agricultural Show Society and the festival is proudly supported by Larkin Polytunnels, Blarney Castle Gardens, Ennis Town Council, Clare County Council Environment Section, Ennis Tidy Towns, Fruithill Farm and Flynn’s Pharmacy.
